Make research accessible
Publishing open access allows content to be freely available online to anyone. You will benefit by:
- reaching a wider audience
- meeting funder requirements
- allowing others to use, adapt and attribute your work.
Griffith University is committed to open research and supports researchers in making their work openly accessible through key pathways.
Read and publish agreements
Publish in eligible hybrid or open access journals covered by read and publish agreements. These allow immediate open access with no Article Processing Charges (APC) via the publisher's platform.
Repository deposit
Publish in a subscription-based journal and deposit the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) in Griffith Research Online (GRO). Submit creative research outputs directly into Creative Works.Open access journals
Publish directly in an open access journal to allow immediate open access via the publisher's platform. Some journals don't have APC but most do.
Read and publish agreements
Read and publish agreements support open access by covering Article Processing Charges (APC) through library-managed arrangements that combine subscription and publishing costs.
These agreements are mainly for subscription-based or hybrid journals. Exclusions and national publishing article limits apply to some journals. Fully open access journals usually require authors to pay APC.
Read and publish agreements are negotiated by CAUL as a consortia. Griffith only participates in some agreements.
Agreements without article caps—there is no limit to the number of articles that can be published open access for eligible authors.
Agreements with article caps—a limited number of open access articles can be published each year. The total cap is shared across universities, with availability based on the order of acceptance.
