You are legally responsible for ensuring that you have the copyright rights whenever including copyright materials—such as images, diagrams, and graphs—including material you adapt, created by others in your:
- articles, book chapters, books and reports for publication
- creative works for publication on Griffith’s Creative Works
- theses for publication on Griffith Research Online
- research projects—where members of the public have access to the content or where you present to the public.
- conference presentations
- publications on the internet and social media
- videos on YouTube.
Sometimes copyright law will allow you to use this material under a copyright exception. At other times, the easiest path is to use material with a suitable licence or other open licence. However, generally, you must get written permission from the copyright owner to include this material.
