All Office for Research internal grant schemes help early and mid-career researchers gain a competitive edge, as well as develop a positive track record for securing external grants. We have grants to:

  • support researchers conduct early-stage projects
  • provide assistance purchasing equipment
  • help develop research collaborations with industry partners and other universities
  • provide research support for researchers returning from parental leave

Early Career Opportunities

Fellowship Accelerator Application Scheme

This scheme is only available to Griffith University applicants.

The Fellowship Accelerator Application Scheme provides support to high performing early and mid-career academic staff who would be competitive in external fellowship schemes, to enable the preparation of their fellowship application.

Our academic groups manage the pre-award process only for the Fellowship Accelerator Application Scheme with their recommendations provided to the Office for Research for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research’s (DVCR) final approval.

The Office for Research is responsible for all the post-award administration of this scheme.

Application details

Group Deans Research and the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics set their own internal due dates to coincide with the Office for Research’s recommendations closing date.

Equipment purchase

Griffith University Research Infrastructure Program (GURIP)

The GURIP scheme provides funding for new and innovative research equipment and facilities. Applications must first be submitted to the relevant Office of the Dean Research. Endorsed and ranked applications are then submitted by the Dean Research to the Office for Research. Researchers should work with their Group technical support team and relevant Dean Research prior to submitting an application.

Griffith University Research Infrastructure Investment Scheme (GURIIS)

The GURIIS scheme provides funding for the replacement of aging equipment, with a strong focus on improving health and safety, and high throughput, commonly used equipment housed in centralised, core, and shared research facilities. Applications must first be submitted to the Office of the Dean Research. Endorsed and ranked applications are then submitted by the Dean Research to the Office for Research. Researchers should work with their Group technical support team and relevant Dean Research prior to submitting an application.
