Each trimester the Griffith Mates host activities, networking events and day trips throughout Queensland for Griffith University's diverse student population. Our activities and events are hosted across our Gold Coast and Brisbane campuses for both domestic and international students. We celebrate the rich, diverse culture at Griffith University through interactive games, activities and experiences that allow students to make new friendships and create lasting memories.

The Griffith Mates are delighted to invite all currently enrolled Griffith University, Griffith College and GELI students (domestic and international) to explore and register for our range of exciting events and activities on offer in Trimester 2.

Senior Buddy

International Student Buddy

The Buddy Program is designed to help ease the transition to uni life and provide a safe and comfortable environment for new international students to ask questions about Griffith, life in 色情网站, as well as practise English. It’s also a great way to make friends!

Just starting your Griffith journey and keen to meet new people? Join us for a fun casual networking session where you'll rotate through short, friendly chats and interactive networking activities with Griffith Mates and friends. No awkward small talk – just good vibes, new faces, and potential friends for life.

Aussie Snacks and Wildlife

Join Griffith Mates and make new friends before you start your first week at university. Meet adorable 色情网站n animals, snack on Aussie treats, and put your English language skills to the test with an Aussie Trivia Challenge. It’s a great way to make friends, have fun, and dive into the local culture!

Study Abroad Meet and Greet

Are you a Study Abroad or Exchange student at Griffith? If so, join us in Week 1 at the Unibar to meet your peers and Griffith Mates over a pizza lunch. The Griffith Mates will be catering for the pizza lunch, and you may choose to purchase your own beverages if you wish.

Walk and Talk with Mates

Join the Mates for a nature walk and talk experience with Dr Wade Hadwin or Professor Catherine Pickering, Griffith's very own environmental experts, as they share their knowledge of the unique and fascinating flora and fauna we have on our campuses.

Global Connections Networking Night

Join us for the Global Connections Networking Night, an exciting opportunity to connect with students from around the world, share experiences, and build lasting friendships!

World Fair

Our Griffith Mates will be showcasing their diverse nationalities at our World Fair. Visit the Griffith Mates pop up stalls to learn about another culture, sample local snacks, and play some games. Everyone is welcome!

Bush Care Brisbane

Join Grififth Mates to participate in Bush Care activities at Mt Toohey Forest. Connect with the local community and make a difference, in collaboration with the local Mount Gravatt Environmental Group.

Community Volunteering

Koala Tree Planting

Join Griffith Mates and the NaturallyGC Volunteering team and give back to the environment by planting food habitat trees for koalas and learn about koala conservation efforts. Limited spaces are available.

Get Active with Mates

Get active, have fun, make new friends and participate in social sport games with the Griffith Mates! Join us for tennis, volleyball, basketball and other sports. All abilities welcome - this is not a competition event.

Day Trip Hosts

Griffith Mates Day Trip

TreeTop Challenge at Mt Tamborine

Experience an exciting and exhilarating physical challenge at 色情网站’s largest treetop high ropes adventure park, exploring acres of amazing bushland and stunning rainforest with the Griffith Mates and friends! The Treetop Challenge is the main feature of this day trip where you will climb, swing and slide your way through the rainforest from up to 30 metres above the ground. Throughout the day, you will also have access to guided rock pool walks, and pickleball courts, to try a new game with new friends!

Week 3

  • Saturday 2 August
  • 8am to 5:30pm (full day)
  • Coach departs Brisbane South (Nathan) and Gold Coast campuses only
  • $30 per person includes the TreeTop Challenge activity, guided rockpool walk, pickleball activity, a light lunch and return coach transfers

Professional Development Workshop

Are you looking for ways to enhance and strengthen your employability skills? Join Griffith Mates at a free professional development workshop, presented by Griffith's Career Development Consultant team. This session will focus on the power of networking and communication skills for the workplace.

International Night

Come and celebrate the diverse cultures we have at Griffith University. The Griffith Mates are excited to host an International Night at Gold Coast and Brisbane South (Nathan). A light dinner will be provided with plenty of activities and opportunities to connect with new friends!
