If you choose to include Griffith University in your will, please use the following terms:

General Purpose Clause

The general purpose clause gives an unrestricted gift to the University to use for its general purposes.

“I give and bequeath to Griffith University (my whole estate) or (specific percentage of the residue of my estate) or (the residue of my estate) or (the sum of $_______) or (specific assets) to be used for general purposes.”

Specific Purpose Clause

A specific purpose clause allows the University a degree of flexibility in applying the bequest to the stated purpose.

“I give and bequeath to Griffith University (my whole estate) or (specific percentage of the residue of my estate) or (the residue of my estate) or (the sum of $_______) or (specific assets) to be used for specific purposes in the following areas…”

Because the research and teaching priorities of the University may change over time, we ask that you include the following in your will:

“If at any time Griffith University determines that it is impossible or impracticable to carry out the stated purpose then Griffith University may apply the income of the bequest for such purpose or purposes as Griffith University determines most closely accords with the stated purpose.”

“I declare that the receipt of Griffith University shall be sufficient discharge to my executors or trustees.”
