Favourite food/drink on campus and the best place to enjoy it?

Picture this: loaded chips drenched in gravy, piled with kebab meat, and topped with the mysterious “special sauce”. If it’s a late-night study session, nothing beats the legendary Toplum for a kebab. I don’t know what’s in that sauce, but it’s amazing. Or, if you’re after an outdoor cafe, vibe I love The Junction; it’s super chill and there’s loads of tables and chairs. I like that they regularly bring out new menus and lunch specials – anything from pasta to curry. And it’s affordable. That’s always a winner for us students!

Best thing you’ve done on campus recently?

Interning with Griffith Business School’s Student Engagement and Career Readiness Team has been a game-changer. I’ve developed a podcast, redesigned web pages, and really enjoyed getting hands-on, real-world experience. Plus, reviving the Griffith University Marketing Club with friends has been brilliant. We even helped promote a mate’s business launch at Harbour Town, creating content strategies and paid ads. It's been massive boost to my skills.

Spill the tea... What’s everyone talking about this trimester?

Community is the buzzword. After years of digital everything, we students are craving real connections. It’s all about getting involved – whether that’s joining clubs, attending events, or just saying yes to new experiences. Griffith Business School also runs great events that I find useful for networking and expanding my knowledge. My favourite? “Business Crawl” – an interactive event in which students get to visit different businesses to get an insight into how they run things. When I went recently, we got to ask loads of questions and hear about business models and internal processes. Talk about an invaluable learning opportunity! Loved it.

What are you most looking forward to next trimester?

I’ve already started diving into an intensive branding course that’s shifting my perspective. I used to think brand and business were the same. Spoiler: they’re not. Exploring how branding shapes perceptions has been eye-opening, and I can’t wait to apply this to my thinking.

Secret sanctuary on campus?

The Griffith Bridge might seem like an odd choice. But hear me out… I find standing on the bridge above the chaos of the traffic surprisingly calming. The hum of cars becomes white noise. With the breeze on my face, it’s the perfect spot to decompress.

Top tip?

The University is really close to Main Beach. So, I’ll head there in the morning before lectures for a walk, swim or surf, for an energised start to my day.
